下午4时左右，原本风平浪静露出河床的青衣江边，突然传来了一阵刺耳的警报声。“糟糕！上游水电站要放水了！”张菥和小伙伴们正准备撤离，却瞧见河中还有两个小女孩正在玩水。张菥立即向她们大声呼喊，请她们快快离开，但两个小女孩似乎并没有听到，小伙伴们急得抓耳挠腮，但水势却不等人，一阵阵洪流崩涌而来，两个小女孩这才察觉到危险，开始拼命挣扎呼救。危急之际，张菥和小伙伴们分头行动，张菥立刻跑到路边求助路过大人，咨询水电站电话，请求他们关掉水闸，另一位不会游泳的伙伴立刻拨打119报警，随后张菥、袁俊杰脱掉衣服、跳进水中，协助大人将一名女孩转移到地势较高暂无生命危险的地区。另一个女孩所在位置河流湍急，张菥、袁俊杰不敢轻易救援，于是拉住她的手以防被冲走，待消防员赶来后，两个小女孩得到了专业救援，终于转危为安。

“张菥、袁俊杰这两个孩子是留守儿童，我看着长大的，都是善良、淳朴的好孩子。”将军镇杨场社区童伴妈妈段蓉说。据悉，张菥、袁俊杰都曾是当地童伴之家的孩子，童伴之家常常开展相关安全救助知识，两个孩子在面对这种情况时才能科学实施救援。同时，段蓉十分关心两个孩子的情况，定期会通过家访、电话的方式关心他们生活、学习，这才了解到孩子们这次惊心动魄的救援行动。
